The Iranian capital city of Tehran is preparing to draw more visitors during the Nowruz holiday celebration, the country’s New Year starting March 21.
Tehran, embracing plenty of historical sites, museums and art galleries, is offering tourists from around the world as well as other cities plenty during the upcoming Nowruz holiday, with up to a 40 percent discount for its hotels, less traffic and clear spring weather, among other attractions.
Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Organization (CHTHO) has initiated the program to boost arrivals during Nowruz, whilst the city grows quiet, the air becomes clean and traffic virtually becomes non-existent.
“Nowruz is the best time to sightseeing in Tehran as it becomes much less crowded,” said Mohammad Ali Farrokhmehr, who heads the Association of Tehran Hotels and Hotel Apartments.
“Tehran hotels will offer up to 40% discounts during Nowruz [March 21 - April 2],” he highlighted.
Meanwhile, open-top double-decker buses would be added to Tehran transport fleet, offering unlimited hop-on, hop-off tours across the capital, according to the CHTHO.
Every year, a large number of residents in Tehran set off to other cities on journeys benefitting from a two-week-long holiday during the start of the spring season, which falls on March 21 this year.
Iran remains one of the most touristic countries in the world, with a large number of attractive natural and historical sites.
